Megan Mullally can be seen weekly in her Emmy and 3-time SAG Award-winning role of “Karen Walker” on NBC’s Will & Grace.

Megan made her television series debut with Elaine Stritch and Ellen Burstyn on “The Ellen Burstyn Show”. Further television credits include a variety of short-lived series as well as guest starring roles on “Seinfeld”, “Frasier” and “China Beach” among others. She appeared opposite Stanley Tucci as Walter Winchell’s wife in Paul Mazursky’s award-winning biopic “Winchell” and recently starred opposite Juliet Stevenson in Lifetime’s “The Pact”.

Mullally made her Broadway debut in the 1994 revival of “Grease” with Rosie O’Donnell. She then received an Outer Critic’s Circle Award nomination for her performance as “Rosemary” in the Broadway revival of “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” opposite Matthew Broderick.

Los Angeles theater credits include “The Berlin Circle” at The Evidence Room Theater for which she won the 2000 Backstage West Garland Award for Best Lead Actress in a Play and the LA Weekly Award for Best Leading Female Performance. Mullally, has also appeared in “Mayhem” at The Evidence Room, as well as a variety of plays and musicals in both Chicago and Los Angeles.

Megan appeared in the feature film “Anywhere But Here” and starred in “Everything Put Together,” directed by “Monster Ball’s” Marc Forster, an entry in the 2000 Sundance Film Festival’s main competition.

Concert appearances include the 2003 Kennedy Center Gala with Patty Lupone and Michael Feinstein and of course Los Angeles’ own Disney Concert Hall, where she is thrilled to be singing.

One of Megan’s fondest projects is her glamorous cover band, Supreme Music Program with whom she has release two cd’s, most recently “Big As A Berry” on Fynsworth Alley. Supreme Music Program has essayed a successful performance art piece, “Sweetheart,” and will perform this fall with The Seattle Symphony and at The Oklahoma Civic Center before appearing next year at The Kennedy Center. Her birthday is November 12th.

Her social contacts help keep Grace in business, and Grace’s business helps keep Karen "grounded." I am a HUGE fan of Megan's and take every opertunity to watch her on Will & Grace. Here's a bit about her:

She was born November 12, 1958 in Los Angeles, California.

She grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her father, Carter Mullally, Jr. was a contract player with Paramount Pictures during the 1950s and her mother was a model. She studied ballet from the age of six and performed in a ballet company during high school. Following her high school graduation from Casady High School, she attended Northwestern University where she majored in English Literature and Art History. She became active in local theater and eventually left college without graduating. She worked in Chicago theater for six years.

She moved to Los Angeles in 1981 and began appearing in bit parts in films. She made her television debut in the series The Ellen Burstyn Show (1986) and guest starred in popular sitcoms such as Seinfeld, Frasier and Mad About You. In 1998, she landed the role of Karen Walker, the shrill voiced, pill popping, booze guzzling secretary in the hit series Will and Grace. She has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.

She made her Broadway debut in 1994 in Grease and later appeared in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. She opened in her own one-woman show, Sweetheart

A Bit About Karen.

Her first husband's name was St. Croix, her second Popeil.

Karen's childhood was a rocky road thanks in part to her unstable relationship with her mother, a con-artist who incorporated the young Karen into her schemes. She is often cruel to her help but somehow this comes across as acts of affection. In particular she has a close relationship with her maid Rosario, whom she even arranged a marriage for to help her remain a U.S. citizen. In the beginning of the series, it seemed that Rosario didn't speak much English, and Karen had a hard time communicating with her. Karen's way of giving Rosario orders was to add the letter "O" to the end of every word she'd say (example: "Enougho with the April Fresho. *hangs up the phone* Right now she's calling me a bitcho"). In another example of miscommunication, Karen used to end phone calls with Rosario by saying "hola," which means "hello" in Spanish and not "goodbye." When Rosario was first seen on-camera at the end of the first season, it was revealed that she spoke English quite well, and that Karen was being patronizing.

Sometimes Karen unintentionally reveals to her friends a softer side that is carefully hidden. In one such incident, Karen's husband has a heart attack and may die. Karen discovers that her friends have placed a bet to see who can get her to cry first, so she elaborately punishes each of them by leading them on to think she might break-down in their presence. In the end, she has an actual break-down over the incident, which Grace stumbles in on and consoles her during.

Stanley Walker died at the end of the fifth season, leaving her open to romantic liasons. She ended up remarrying, to Lyle Finster (played by John Cleese), although she asked for a divorce at their wedding reception in Las Vegas. It just so happens that he is the father of the young woman with whom her former husband, Stan, was having an affair, Lorraine (Minnie Driver)- a cafeteria worker in the prison Stan was serving time in after being charged with tax evasion.
